I am a registered psychotherapist providing virtual counselling and psychotherapy services across Ontario. I am certified with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA #8192) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO #002563). Over the years, I’ve also had the privilege of teaching as an instructor at the Counsellor Training Institute in Halifax. My work is grounded in more than nineteen years of private practice experience, guided by a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach.
My academic and professional training reflects my commitment to deep, evidence-based therapeutic work. I hold a Master of Educational Psychology, a Graduate Diploma in Couples Counselling, and two Certificates in Adult Education, along with a Post-Master’s Graduate Diploma in Couples Therapy.
Beyond my formal education, I completed a two-year program at the EastWind Institute, Level-2 Gottman Method certification, EMDR training, and two years of contemplative study at Gampo Abbey in Cape Breton and the Rocky Mountain Shambhala Center in Colorado. My work integrates client-centred individual therapy and Gottman-informed couples therapy, offered exclusively online to make care accessible and flexible.
My areas of specialization include First Nations and Indigenous mental health, narcissistic abuse, adult ADHD, anger management, workplace stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and PTSD—including extensive work with RCMP and military members. I draw from a wide range of therapeutic models, such as EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, dream work, art- and drama-informed approaches, body-mind therapies, and marriage and relationship counselling. I am always learning, studying, and refining my practice to better support those who come to me.
My professional journey has taken me through many environments. Since 2005, I’ve maintained a full-time private practice. Before that, I worked in residential mental health care, psychiatric hospital settings, and a recovery home for men dealing with addiction. I’ve supported individuals in victim services, people navigating anger issues, youth, seniors, survivors of violence and trauma, and both military and civilian individuals living with PTSD. I’ve lived and worked in retreat centres, supported people through periods of deep reflection and healing, served as the mental health therapist in a northern First Nations community, and taught mindfulness meditation to students and clients.
Before entering the helping professions, I worked in construction, landscaping, farming, and served as a junior officer in the Canadian Navy. These experiences shaped my grounded, practical approach to therapy and my deep respect for the resilience people carry into their healing journeys.
I bring strengths in communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, adult education, program development, case management, and facilitating groups. Over the years, I’ve led workshops for health-care professionals, facilitated seminars in treatment programs, supported long-term care teams, and served as secretary for my local chapter of the CCPA. I’ve guided groups through dream work, qigong, guided imagery, visualization, anxiety and phobia management, anger management, self-hypnosis, and sharing circles. I’ve also studied and taught several meditation and energy-based practices, integrating complementary healing principles when appropriate.
My goal in all of this work is simple: to help people reduce suffering, reconnect with themselves, and build a life that feels grounded, meaningful, and aligned with who they truly are.
My therapy dog, Jedi, often joins me on camera, offering grounding, humour, and comfort. He’s currently completing certification for volunteer work in hospitals and long-term care. My three cats also make the occasional appearance, adding warmth and humanity to sessions. Clients frequently share that they appreciate the relaxed, home-like atmosphere this creates. My practice is fully virtual, with flexible scheduling and clear professional boundaries to support a safe and welcoming experience.
